Here is a smaller backpack made from a Life jacket and with some extra plastic based fabric offcuts. These materials are very difficult, if not impossible, to recycle. These bags are pretty special; as life jackets are small and we need larger fabric to make the bags, the life jackets have been cut up and then stitched together making these items truly unique! As well as this, I have tried to keep as many original features as possible from the life jackets on these bags. This bag for example, has the original reflector, webbing loops, a label and a small toggle which hangs from the bag on the front and a whistle attached to the zip on the pocket. There is a very small pocket on the front of the bag measuring in total 4" x 6 1/4". My sewing machine had a moment when sewing this pocket on the front, so it has been stitched around twice!

These bags have a fold down top and close with a plastic clip. They have a handle so they are easy to carry and two adjustable backpack straps. the handle was a zip pull from a broken wetsuit. Perfect to store your items for walks and more! The webbing strap by the clip also has part of a punctured inner tube to keep the end of the strap safe. I have kept this strap longer so if you stuff the bag full of items it will still do up.

This bag measures when closed, 13” high and 10” across tapering to 6” across at the base. Unfolded, when fully open, the bag is 19” high. What is great about this bag is it has a tapered base meaning it’s roomy with a boxy base. This then tapers towards the top. The back pack straps go to about 32” at the longest but of course these can go smaller also as they are adjustable.

This bag has an adjustable webbing strap and a keeper that is made from a punctured inner tube to keep the end of the strap in place.

Please note, as the material used it repurposed, there may be some signs of wear or markings on these items but this is the beauty of them. This was a used lifejacket so has plenty of signs of being a lifejacket including some markings on the yellow section of the bag and in various other places. Although some of the fabric is very waterproof, it is important to know that the bags are not. I cannot guarantee these are waterproof due to the stitching used to create these items. Due to this material the items may be slightly organic shaped!

We try and upcycle as much material as we can, but other components used on these items such as zips and webbing straps are not always repurposed, but they are where ever I can get them.
