Hi, I’m Kate, the founder of Flotsam Flo, a passion project based in Cornwall. I turn difficult-to-recycle materials like wetsuits, life jackets, hot tub lids, banners and inflatables into unique, handmade creations. By repurposing and upcycling these items, I’m tackling plastic pollution and promoting sustainability, one piece at a time. Each product often retains the original character of the materials, making it truly one-of-a-kind.

As of December 2024, the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) will be in effect, applying to all consumer products sold in the EU that are not covered by other specific safety regulations. Our mission began in 2019, following a life-changing brain haemorrhage that reminded me of the preciousness of each moment. Inspired by my Granny Florence’s belief that “there’s no such word as can’t,” I turned my passion for creating into a powerful journey towards reducing waste and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Through the repurposing and upcycling of materials sourced from local businesses, charities, and the community, we transform discarded items into something beautiful and functional. From decommissioned life jackets turned into small backpacks, to banners reimagined as unique corporate gifts, each creation is a step towards a greener, more conscious world.
