PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING A CHANGE
Hi, I’m Kate. Flotsam Flo began in 2019, following a life-changing brain haemorrhage that reminded me of the preciousness of each moment. Inspired by my Granny Florence’s belief that “there’s no such word as can’t,” I turned my passion for creating into a powerful journey towards reducing materials and contributing to a more sustainable future. Through upcycling and creative reuse, the project helped shine a light on plastic pollution and the importance of sustainability.
Although I am no longer sewing items (for now!), my work continues with workshops and talks. I now focus on sharing my story and experience through talks about resilience, creativity and overcoming adversity. Drawing on my own journey , from a sudden brain haemorrhage to multiple injuries and the determination that carried both me and Flotsam Flo forward, my talks explore the power of getting back up and finding new life in unexpected places.
If you’d like to book a talk or collaborate, you can find more information on my talks here - please feel free to contact me to find out more.
Although the making side of Flotsam Flo has now come to an end (for now!), I’m incredibly proud of everything it achieved: the products, the workshops and the community it built around creativity and environmental action.
Thank you so much for your support over the years. It has meant everything.
